"CORAZON RUDO" (English: "Rough Heart") is a multimedia performance by Zurich-based director Diana Rojas-Feile. Its starting point is conversations with people who were recruited into armed conflicts as minors. The performance focuses on the voice of Margarita. She speaks of a female body in war, of the logic of the war machine, and of survival. Voices, sound, image, and live music create an intense experiential space.
The performance focuses on listening. "Corazón Rudo" understands listening as an ethical practice and poses questions that have no easy answers. Who is considered a victim, who is considered responsible? Who survives, who tells their story, and who listens? What happens to the pain of others when we encounter it? The evening opens a space where these questions can be shared, as an invitation to reflection and to a form of listening that takes individual experiences seriously while simultaneously opening up a shared perspective on the past, present, and possible futures.
